This whole experience, aside from ruining college for me, left me wanting to control everything. My college has a small ski area. When the ski patrol final exam came, I got the highest score on the test.

My husband went ahead without me, and I had to take care of my two older children and sell the house. It was an extremely stressful time, and I was not happy about being pregnant because I had planned to go back to school after we moved. My husband loved his new job and was not home much. I was lonely and unhappy. I slept only a few hours a night. The PPD came upon me a few days after giving birth. It felt like the world was ending. After some rest and some meds, I was OK, but it took me a long time, about six months, to feel like myself.

There are very few women with whom I connect; however, when I do I tend to have long and deep friendships. Sometimes I lie awake at night worrying about whether I will be able to keep my commitments to others. I worry whether I will actually do what I’ve said I’d do the next day.
