This whole experience, aside from ruining college for me, left me wanting to control everything. My college has a small ski area. It was very competitive to get on the ski patrol, and I really wanted to make it. I had a very busy semester, with a difficult course load and a varsity sport. I worked myself into a tizzy. When the ski patrol final exam came, I got the highest score on the test.

My husband went ahead without me, and I had to take care of my two older children and sell the house. It was an extremely stressful time, and I was not happy about being pregnant because I had planned to go back to school after we moved. My husband loved his new job and was not home much. I was lonely and unhappy. I slept only a few hours a night. The PPD came upon me a few days after giving birth. It felt like the world was ending. After some rest and some meds, I was OK, but it took me a long time, about six months, to feel like myself.

When I compare myself to other women, I either think I am way better or I think I am at the bottom of the barrel. There does not seem to be a middle ground and I do not have a clear sense of where I fit into the big picture.
